Artists, organisers and members of the public alike were thrilled at The Sorting Office’s Summer Open Studios event this weekend.

Hundreds of members of the public turned out to visit the Eastleigh designer-maker studios over the course of the weekend, and most were pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere, variety of goods and vibrant displays of crafts on show.

Visitors seized the chance to get to know the local creative hub, speaking with the resident designer-makers, watching a variety of craft demonstration and browsing the stalls of local artists at the Maker’s Fayre.

Guests were also given the opportunity to try their hand at screen printing a tote bag in The Sorting Office’s dedicated screen Print Cabin.

One visitor to the studios, Caroline, an Eastleigh resident, said of the studios:

“It’s beautiful, lovely use of the space, lots to look at and very welcoming”

Bobby, another Eastleigh resident, said:

“We’ve met some lovely people and seen some fantastic pieces of art.”

“We’ve lived in Eastleigh all our lives and we never knew it existed, it’s a lovely place.”

The Sorting Office Open Studios is a bi-annual event in which it opens its doors to the public, putting on various events and welcoming them to get to know the studios.
