The Maker's Fayre at The Sorting Office's Bi-annual Open Studios event is an amazing opportunity to buy an eclectic mix of pieces from local artists. Set up in The Sorting Office's spacious Production House, the Maker's Fayre hosts a number of stalls which are rented to local artisans. Read on to find out more about the confirmed artists:
Kim Styles Jewellery
Kim Styles creates intricate hand crafted sterling silver and gold jewellery, bridal accessories and wedding bands. She makes with great care and attention to detail the old fashioned way, and loves working with precious metal, considering how each piece she makes will fit together, sit and move with the wearer.
Leo Deville is a designer-maker who largely makes ceramic faces, figures jewellery and pots, which include mixed media embellishments such as wires, textiles, beads and other bits. Leo also loves drawing in black biro, and in his spare time, makes good use of oil and acrylic paints.
Niki Fisher, Abbart
Abbart, which was started up three years ago, is an artistic business that aims to create, whilst encouraging local crafters with their own work. The stall will be manned by Jewellery Maker Niki Fisher. Together with Louise Abbot of Abbart, Niki is an artist and maker who produce unusual jewellery, coasters and other designs.
A collaboration between Blue Donut Studios, SplashMaps and Eastleigh Borough Council, Harry's Hampshire is a washable wearable map. But that's not all. Using an app, scan your phone over the map, and watch it come to life with information and facts relating to King Henry V's flagship, the Grace Dieu, and the build-up to the Battle of Agincourt.
4loveofsilver was founded by Sarah Baker in 2013. Sarah is a fine artist who graduated in Fine Art Sculpture from The Winchester School of Art in 2012. She then went on to found her business, developing a range of jewellery in Ecosilver and Sterling Silver which is inspired by nature and a love of beautiful, simple lines.
Ash and Tang
Ash and Tang is the creation of Independent Artist Oliver Hall. Oliver’s work involves creating intricate, highly detailed patterns, which are then silkscreen printed by Ryan Ward of Hands on Printing. Oliver also creates his own prints which feature beautiful marble patterns.
