Free workshops for children and families
As part of the inaugural Eastleigh Film Festival, residents from The Sorting Office will be running FREE workshops especially designed for children and their families.
The workshops will take place on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 2pm and will be themed around the animated film Frankenweenie, which is being screened at The Point as part of the film festival.
The film, directed by Tim Burton, tells the story of a young boy, Victor, who conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes, monstrous, consequences.
Our resident illustrator Lisa Jean will be running the animated-themed workshop Where It All Began. She will take youngsters through the art of animation, showing them how to create their own ghoulish artwork that will be brought to life on one of our Zoetropes. Drop in to The Sorting Office studios anytime from 10am to 2pm to take part in this FREE workshop.
Over at The Point, our costumier Helen McArdle and fashion designer Jason Butler will be hosting the Make Your Own Zombie Pet workshop. Like Victor in Frankenweenie, you will bring to life your own Zombie pet using fabric, patchworks, and buttons. Drop in to The Point theatre in Leigh Road anytime from 10am to 2pm to take part in this FREE workshop.
To fully make the most of your day, why not also book your tickets to see Frankenweenie. The film starts at 2pm, with tickets costing just £3.
