Shiver Me Timbers! What's Our Ceramic Artist Up To Now?

 Aug 20, 2015

Ahoy, me hearties! Our ceramic artist Sheena Bond will need to have her wits about her, be an Old Salt, as she embarks on a swashbuckling new project.

The gifted artist has been commissioned to design and run a children’s, nay scallywags, workshop for the popular Eastleigh Film Festival.

This year the festival, run in association with The Point, takes place from September 21 to 26 and includes a host of events including film screenings in unique settings such as Snakes On A Plane in an exotic pet shop - with live snakes! - an industry day with film experts and panel discussions, and a special VIP film screening with BBC 1 Film’s host Danny Leigh.

Sheena’s workshop will take place on the film festival’s Family Day (Saturday 26) that is themed around the movie The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists! Her drop-in Pieces Of Eight workshop will see The Sorting Office artist work with children to make pirate-themed booty such as ceramic doubloons and Jolly Roger badges.

Working with small groups at a time Sheena will show children how to work with and mould clay to create treasure that can be taken home to be painted with acrylic paints or gold spray paint. A perfect pirate’s booty!

The workshop is part of a “treasure” trail through Eastleigh Town Centre that also includes a filmic pirate makeover and green-screen filming opportunity at the Swan Centre and, the chance to see Aardman Productions’ hilarious animated feature film The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists! at The Point.

Pieces Of Eight takes place at The Sorting Office at 37 Wells Road from 10.30am to 1.45pm. This FREE workshop will be run on a first-come-first-served basis.
