CCC: Mariska Parent’s Hand Tufted Retro-Futuristic Rug
Print Designer and Illustrator Mariska Parent chose to use the 1929 Golden Arrow world speed record breaking car as inspiration for a hand tufted rug with a retro-futurism feel. Having visited the car in situ at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, Mariska first took plenty of photos for reference.
With plenty of photos to refer to, Mariska then began drawing up ideas for the rug using a wacom tablet and Illustrator.
With a completed design, Mariska set about sourcing someone to manufacture the prototype. Looking to the far east, Mariska found a rug maker in Bhadohi, the carpet making capital of the world.
