CCC: Karen Head’s Golden Acorn-Trimmed Nuno Felt Scarf

Posted On April 6, 2016 by The Sorting Office

Textile Artist Karen Head chose to base the design for her Nuno felt scarf on Jane Austen’s pelisse coat, using luxury wool, silk and thread in golden yellow and brown hues as a nod to the romance author’s stunning garment.

Karen used the nuno felt process, taking layers of golden wool and silk and merging them together using heat and pressure, to create the base of her scarf.

For the trim, Karen used a traditional crochet method, using golden threads she sourced from India, as well as threads she dyed brown herself.
